Department of Registration and Regulation

The Department is responsible for registration and regulation of cooperatives and enterprises in order to ensure formalisation and compliance with statutory provisions.

The department shall perform the following specific functions:

  1. Register cooperatives and enterprises in order to ensure adherence to statutory requirements;
  2. Classification of MSMEs;
  3. Conduct inspections and management audits of cooperatives and enterprises in order to ensure compliance with legal, administrative and financial requirements;
  4. Conduct arbitration of disputes on cooperatives and enterprises related issues in order to resolve differences and facilitate smooth operation;
  5. Review cooperative development legislation in order to provide conducive environment for cooperatives and enterprises operation;
  6. Data Base management and graduation mapping; and
  7. Develop and disseminate cooperatives and enterprises guidelines in order to enlighten stakeholders and enhance best practice.
