Chief Chundaponde has called for extensive sensitization of his subjects following the announcement of a K1.3 million empowerment fund for Lavushimanda District by the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Hon. Mufunelo Malama, MP.
The Chief made the remarks when Hon. Malama paid a courtesy call on him at the palace. Chief Chundaponde expressed confidence that the K1.3 million fund would significantly boost the district’s economy.
In response, the Minister disclosed that his Ministry, through the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC), would conduct massive sensitization campaigns across Lavushimanda District. He emphasized that this would ensure optimal utilization of the funds and promote timely loan repayments.
Hon. Malama further stated that the primary objective of the empowerment program is to grow the local economy and create jobs for citizens.
Before visiting Chiundaponde, the Minister engaged with residents of Mupamadzi, Lukulu, Mununga, and Kalonje. He noted that such community interactions are crucial as they enhance the productivity of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and allow the Ministry to better understand the challenges businesses face.
